Course 4: OPTICS & IMAGING

This course will review the various terminology associated with optical based systems being used in industry today. Fundamental concepts dealing with the electromagnetic spectrum will be explored. Light sources in the visible, infrared and ultraviolet portions of the spectrum will be introduced. Reflection, refraction, transmission and diffraction phenomena are described.

This course is intended for the technician who needs to understand basic optical terminology.   No prior optics background is necessary.

PREREQUISITES
Working knowledge of geometry, algebra and right angle trigonometry will be helpful.
